Don't Stop Believing
Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world.
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere.
Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit.
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere.
A singer in a smokey room,
a smell of wine and cheap perfume,
for a smile they can share the night.
It goes on and on and on and on.
Strangers waiting up and down the boulevard,
their shadows searching in the night.
Streetlights people living just to find emotion.
Hiding, somewhere in the night.
Working hard to get my fill.
Everybody wants a thrill,
payin' anything to roll the dice.
Just one more time,
some will win, some will lose,
some were born to sing the blues.
The movie never ends,
it goes on and on and on and on.
Strangers waiting up and down the boulevard,
their shadows searching in the night.
Streetlight people living just to find emotion.
Hiding, somewhere in the night.
Don't stop believin'.
Hold on to the feelin'.
Streetlights people.

Put on a slow, dumb show for you and crack you up
---
---
Slow Show
Standing at the punch table swallowing punch.
Can't pay attention to the sound of anyone.
A little more stupid, a little more scared,
every minute more unprepared.
I made a mistake in my life today,
everything I love gets lost in drawers.
I want to start over, I want to be winning.
Way out of sync from the beginning.
I wanna hurry home to you,
put on a slow, dumb show for you
and crack you up.
So you can put a blue ribbon on my brain.
I'm very, very frightening.
I'll overdo it.
Looking for somewhere to stand and stay.
I leaned on the wall and the wall leaned away.
Can I get a minute of not being nervous
and not thinking I'm a dick.
My leg is sparkles, my leg is pins
I better get my shit together, better gather my shit in.
You could drive a car through my head in five minutes
from one side of it to the other.
I wanna hurry home to you,
put on a slow, dumb show for you
and crack you up.
So you can put a blue ribbon on my brain.
I'm very, very frightening.
I'll overdo it.
You know I dreamed about you,
for twenty-nine years before I saw you.
You know I dreamed about you.
I missed you for,
for twenty-nine years.

As many times as I blink
---
---
Vanilla Twilight
The stars lean down to kiss you
and I lie awake and miss you.
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere,
cause I'll doze off safe and soundly,
but I'll miss your arms around me.
I'll send a postcard to you, dear,
cause I wish you were here.
I'll watch the night turn light blue,
but it's not the same without you,
because it takes two to whisper quietly.
The silence isn't so bad,
till I look at my hands and feel sad,
cause the spaces between my fingers
are right where yours fit perfectly.
I'll find repose in new ways,
though I haven't slept in two days,
cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone.
But drenched in vanilla twilight,
I'll sit on the front porch all night.
Waist deep in thought because when
I think of you I don't feel so alone.
I don't feel so alone.
I don't feel so alone.
As many times as I blink,
I'll think of you tonight.
I'll think of you tonight.
When violet eyes get brighter
and heavy wings grow lighter,
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again.
And I'll forget the world that I knew,
but I swear I won't forget you.
If my voice could reach back through the past,
I'd whisper in your ear:
"Darling, I wish you were here".

Run, run away

When Your Mind's Made Up
So, if you want something and you call, call,
then, I’ll come running to fight and I’ll be at your door,
when there’s nothing worth running for.
When your mind’s made up,
when your mind’s made up,
there’s no point trying to change it.
When your mind’s made up,
when your mind’s made up,
there’s no point trying to stop it.
You see, you’re just like everyone.
When the shit falls, all you want to do is run, away
and hide all by yourself.
When you’re far from me, there’s nothing else.
When your mind’s made up,
when your mind’s made up,
there’s no point trying to change it.
When your mind’s made up,
when your mind’s made up,
there’s no point even talking.
When your mind’s made up,
when your mind’s made up,
there’s no point trying to fight it.
So, if you ever want something and you call, call,
then, I’ll come running.

I want to see life
-----
----
There's a Light that Never Goes Out
Take me out tonight,
where there's music and there's people
and they're young and alive.
Driving in your car.
I never, never want to go home,
because I haven't got one.
Anymore.
Take me out tonight,
because I want to see people
and I want to see life.
Driving in your car.
Please don't drop me home,
because it's not my home, it's their home,
and I'm welcome no more.
And if a double-decker bus crashes into us,
to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die.
And if a ten-ton truck kills the both of us,
to die by your side, well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine.
Take me out tonight.
Take me anywhere, I don't care,
I don't care, I don't care.
And in the darkened underpass,
I thought, my chance has come at last.
But then a strange fear gripped me and I just couldn't ask.
Take me out tonight.
Take me anywhere, I don't care,
I don't care, I don't care.
Driving in your car.
I never never want to go home,
because I haven't got one.
I haven't got one.

Nothing gets me down!

Jump
I get up and nothing gets me down.
You got it tough. I've seen the toughest around.
And I know, just how you feel.
You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real.
Can't you see me standing here?
I've got my back against the record machine.
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Can't you see what I mean?
I might as well jump. Jump!
Might as well jump.
Go ahead, jump! Jump!
Go ahead, jump!
Hey you! Who said that? How you been?
You say you don't know, you won't know until you begin.
So, can't you see me standing here?
I've got my back against the record machine.
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Can't you see what I mean?
I might as well jump. Jump!

I'll make a path to the rainbow's end

Seven Wonders
So long ago, certain place, certain time,
you touched my hand all the way,
all the way down to Emmiline.
But if our paths never cross,
well, you know I'm sorry but...
if I live to see the seven wonders,
I'll make a path to the rainbow's end.
I'll never live to match the beauty again.
The rainbow's end.
So it's hard to find someone with that kind of intensity.
You touched my hand I played it cool
and you reached out your hand to me.
But if our paths never cross,
well, you know I'm sorry but...
if I live to see the seven wonders,
I'll make a path to the rainbow's end.
I'll never live to match the beauty again.
The rainbow's end.
So long ago, it's a certain time, it's a certain place,
you touched my hand and you smiled, all the way back you held out your hand.
If I hope and I if pray, it might work out someday.
If I live to see the seven wonders,
I'll make a path to the rainbow's end.
I'll never live to match the beauty again.
The rainbow's end.
If I live to see the seven wonders,

Funny Little Frog
Honey, lovin' you is the greatest thing,
I get to be myself and I get to sing,
I get to play at being irresponsible,
I come home late and love your soul,
I never forget you in my prayers,
I never have a bad thing to report.
You're my picture on the wall,
you're my vision in the hall,
you're the one I'm talking to,
when I get in from my work.
You are my girl and you don't even know it.
And you're the funny little frog in my throat.
My eyesight's fading, my hearing's dim.
I can't get insured for the state I'm in.
I'm a danger to myself, I've been starting fights
at the party at the club on a Saturday night,
but I don't get disapproving from my girl,
she gets all the highlights wrapped in pearls.
You're my picture on the wall,
you're my vision in the hall,
you're the one I'm talking to
when I get in from my work.
You are my girl and you don't even know it.
I am living out the life of a poet.
I am the jester in the ancient courts.
And you're the funny little frog in my throat.
I had a conversation with you last night,
it was a little one sided but that's all right.
I tell you in the kitchen about my day,
you sit on the bed in the dark changing place
with the ghost that was there before you came.
You've come to save my, my life again.
I don't dare to touch your hand.
I don't dare to think of you, in a physical way.
And I don't know how you smell.
You are the cover of my magazine,
you're my fashion tip, a living museum
I'd pay to visit you on rainy Sundays.
And maybe tell you all about it, someday.
